Explorer takes a very long time to open "Network"
Hi, I have Windows 7 Build 7100 installed, and when accessing "Network" via explorer or a file browser window there is a very long delay, in the region of a minute, before my networked devices (my Windows Home Server) shows. However accessing "Shared Folders" on my WHS via the Desktop shortcut is nearly instant. The only other device which shows after clicking "Network" is my own computer, so im not sure why there is such a long delay. Can anyone shed any light on this?

The same thing happens to me. I'm using Windows 7 Build 7100. I have a FreeNAS server (FreeBSD based) and two XP machines. My windows 7 acts EXACTLY as you have described. One minute (seems like 2 or 3) before it will show the workgroup computers.Somethings broke.

I am not sure, I just opened network and everything came right up, my media server, every machine on the network, the router, the printer, everything, within 5 seconds. Do you have any other network issues?

Ok, here's something weird I can add to this.I was using a Belkin Wireless G Router Model: F5D7230-4 as a router. It was basically factory default with uPNP disabled and a password with WEP encryption enabled. It would take approximately one minute to load up the network link (to show all the network computers).I recently added another ethernet card to my old Linux file server, installed Clarkconnect on it and use it as a router and set the Belkin to be an access point instead of a router. Now, as soon as I click on network all the computers are instantly there. That is really lame that the Belkin router acting as a router was hosing up Windows networking. Is it a Belkin bug, or a Windows7 bug or a combination of both? The belkin being the router didn't cause ANY problems seeing network computers in XP. Hmm....
